Persistent long-term platelet activation and endothelial perturbation in women with Takotsubo syndrome

چکیده
Takotsubo (TTS) syndrome is an acute cardiac condition characterized by transient and reversible left ventricle dysfunction that mainly affects postmenopausal women. Catecholamine burst the most accredited mechanism underpinning TTS onset leading to endothelial platelet activation. Even if use of low dose acetylsalycilic acid (ASA) in this clinical setting based on both presentation unfavorable long-term prognosis, its efficacy has been recently challenged. This study was designed assess function, residual thromboxane formation aggregation women low-dose ASA treatment at follow-up. Twenty-eight females with previously diagnosis were enrolled. Data compared those obtained from 23 coronary artery disease (CAD) a history myocardial infarction, 26 control subjects no or clinically evident CAD. Psychological profile assessed all groups enrollment. Main metabolites involved L-arginine/nitric oxide pathway, urinary prostacyclin, serum urine measured LCMS/MS methods. Thrombomodulin levels quantified using ELISA kit, aggregation, carried out rich-plasma, induced ADP epinephrine (EPI), norepinephrine (NORE) TRAP-6, alone association evaluated Born’s method. In derangement, reduced citrulline production increased thrombomodulin concentration, perturbation prostacyclin levels, evidenced. addition, despite treatment, displayed higher formation, parallel enhanced response Our highlighted presence patients even index event. The still leave open question about setting.

Purpose: Kinesio-taping (KT) is a new therapeutic approach for shoulder impingement syndrome (SIS), which is common in swimmers. This study was performed to investigate the short- and long-term effects of KT on shoulder pain and functional stability in swimmers with SIS. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study (randomized control trial), 28 swimmers with SIS were randomly allocated to the ta...
متن کاملPersistent Long-Term Structural, Functional, and Metabolic Changes After Stress-Induced (Takotsubo) Cardiomyopathy
BACKGROUND Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is an increasingly recognized acute heart failure syndrome precipitated by intense emotional stress. Although there is an apparent rapid and spontaneous recovery of left ventricular ejection fraction, the long-term clinical and functional consequences of takotsubo cardiomyopathy are ill-defined. METHODS In an observational case-control study, we recruited 3...

متن کاملElevated C-reactive protein and long-term mortality after ischaemic stroke: relationship with markers of endothelial cell and platelet activation.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Inflammatory biomarkers predict development of atherothrombotic events. In the present study we examined the relationships between C-reactive protein (CRP), complement C3, and long-term mortality after acute ischemic stroke. METHODS CRP and C3 were analyzed by in-house enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in 394 subjects with acute ischemic stroke who survived for >30 days...
